Patriot’s Day Half-Marathon Run Fundraiser

This year I am teaming up with one of Candorful’s awesome volunteer interview coaches, Dave Ventola, to run the Cocheco Challenge Half Marathon on 4/22 to honor Patriot’s Day 2023. Patriot’s Day is an important day in history, marking the beginning of the American Revolution and a new breed of freedom and democracy. Dave and I will run to honor ALL our Patriots, their spouses, and families from 1775 through 2023!

We are asking for your support raising money for Candorful.

Why?

Candorful’s mission is to provide practice interviews and prep for transitioning military, veterans, and military spouses.

Did you know….

  • Veterans and military spouses who land phone interviews and fully participate in
  • Candorful’s prep and practice are 2.5 times more likely to land the job?!
  • Our candidates describe our impact as very positive over 97% of the time and often describe our impact with terms like “game changer”, “amazing”, “awesome”, and “eye-opening”.
  • We maintain a Net Promoter Score of 98 (world class is 75)
  • We supported over 1000 military job candidates in 2022 with a small team of 1.5 employees and 100+ amazing volunteers.

We need your support so we can impact EVERY veteran and military spouses who need our help.

We completed our migration to new technology in 2022 which means we are poised to scale and help even MORE military job candidates. BUT we need to grow our team to manage our growing candidate base!

To do this we need YOUR help!

Let’s raise $60,000. This is a leap BUT we have a RUNNING start (with your help) – We are absolutely blessed to have a board member who has pledged $30,000 if we can raise $30,000. I think we can do it if you will help.

Please make a donation so we can make a huge difference in the lives of transitioning military, veterans, and military spouses and inspire Dave and me to get over that finish line on April 22nd. Your dollars make a difference in the lives of our wonderful and deserving Veterans and Military Spouses!

Happy Patriots Day & Blessings,

Pat Hubbell

Why Did We Start Candorful?

Why are we passionate about Candorful? Because we are Candorful.

Pete, former US Army Captain, made his transition from the military via Business School. During the recruiting process, Pete, found himself facing unfamiliar challenges. Mastering the art of the job search and, in particular, having the confidence and comfort to connect with the interviewer was a skill that he had to practice and develop.

Later, after launching a successful finance career, Pete realized there was a lack of resources to directly support development of interview skills.

This led Pete to an idea. What if he could develop a coaching service focused on the piece of the job search where the rubber meets the road: The Interview. He also knew that the right place to initially focus this service was on transitioning military veterans. Being one himself, Pete knew the struggles this particular group faced when transitioning from the military to the civilian world.

The need to translate an esoteric set of military accomplishments and job descriptors into common language, combined with the reality that many service members have never interviewed before, make for an ideal opportunity to serve this community.

Pete reached out to Pat in 2016 with the idea, knowing Pat’s vast experience in career coaching, interview prep and mentoring, as Pete’s career counselor at Johnson. Pat also brought experience as a product development engineer and management consultant and therefore a history of process innovation to apply to Pete’s fantastic idea.

Pat and Pete put their heads together to conceptualize a platform where those transitioning from the military, or those in career transition, could meet experienced interview coaches for realistic interview experience and feedback. Together, their combined experiences and skill sets give their clients a competitive advantage in the transition and the job market.
